"I was on Nutrisystem many years ago and did very well on it, and I think it's pretty similar to the Jenny Craig plan. The food is pretty typical of pre-packaged meals--not great, but not awful either (you learn which foods not to choose pretty quickly.)..."

"I did well on nutrisystem for awhile. Then, I hit a plateau, and my weight loss stopped. I did lose over 20 pounds before the plateau hit. Currently, I have an unopened box of NS food sitting on my back porch. I'll eat that stuff eventually..."

Overview:
Nutrisystem base their meal delivery service on the fact that people lead busy hectic lives in today's society and don't have time to think about food and prepare their own meals. Nutrisystem aims to take the guesswork and hassle off people's shoulders, by delivering ready-prepared balanced meals, specifically designed for weight-loss, directly to people's homes.
Sidenote: One of Nutrisystem's advantages is that it offers specialised diet plans tailored to individuals for better results. Specifically, meal plans are combined into categories for: Women, Men, Women Diabetics, Men Diabetics, Vegetarians and additional "Silver" plans.
Furthermore, customers can contact a counselor and have an individual session offering more information about the program and how to use it for optimum results.
NutriSystem Nourish Diet plan is a "send you the food" diet plan operated by NutriSystem, Inc. through their official home page ( www.nutrisystem.com ) of Horsham, Pennsylvania.
The NutriSystem Diet is based on the Glycemic Index of Carbohydrates. By combining exercise, and frequent smaller portioned meals, the glycemic index diet is supposed to reduce hunger (due to a constant blood glucose).
It was founded by Stacie Mullen, a television personality, in 1991 when the company was going to produce 20 breakfasts, lunches, dinners, desserts, and snacks.
Clients can currently call, email or chat online with the weight loss counselors for advice or support. The average customer stays on the program 10 weeks. Some TV ads feature former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino as the lead spokesperson, also featuring other well-known celebrities who have allegedly lost weight using the company's products.

Food & Recipes:
Meals are pre-packaged and their size is predetermined. There are more than 100 meals online at Nutrisystem, that most consumers describe as overall tasty (Meals include Chicken Parmesan, Macaroni and Cheese, Tacos, Chicken Noodle Soup, treats like blueberry lemon bars and almond biscotti.)
The Nutrisystem Nourish plan's foundation is based on the principle that weight loss is attained by eating low glycemic foods. They help you meet the daily carbohydrate requirement, and your body breaks them down slower than high glycemic foods, thus maintaining blood sugar. On the contrary, high glycemic foods provoke a sudden increase of insulin in your organism and break down quickly.
This is the reason why foods high in protein and fiber are the best low glycemic foods: they maintain a feeling of fullness by raising the metabolism.
Note: Nutrisystem’s six varied plans are combined into groups for better results. There is a Women's Program and a Men's Program; two programs for aged people: Women Over 60 and Men Over 60, and two specialized programs, Type II Diabetic and All-Vegetarian program.
