How to Prevent Overeating During the Holiday Season - 5 Effective Weight Loss StrategiesThose delicious treats, crunchy chocolate cookies and delicious puddings are going to smile at you on more occasions than one… You might be tempted to reach out and grab a handful, before anyone saw you, but if you are on a weight loss program, that’s, well…. not the best thing to do. One little cookie… one here, one there, eh… “what’s that gonna do?” Did you know that same one cookie a day can add up to a pound to your weight? To keep you on the safe side, here’s how to fight those temptations. 1) Never skip meals. That’s right, you want to avoid feeling hungry as much as possible. You know what happens when you are starving and enter the groceries store, right? Your imagination comes up with all sorts of things that you just HAVE to buy. Same here… Imagine you happen to come across a well decorated table full of treats, while you are almost fainting from hunger… How high are your chances of resisting attacking the table you think…? Not a good strategy… 2) Eat before the party. Chose a high fiber snack, because high fiber foods in general can make you feel more satisfied quicker. It will be simply much easier to stay away from the buffet table if you have satisfied your hunger a bit beforehand. 3) Drink plenty of water. I am sure you have heard that one before, but it’s that important… Water performs so many essential functions with added benefits. Water will speed up your metabolism and wash away fats. Just by drinking plenty of water everyday it’s possible to lose weight steadily. Secondly, water will fill you up and reduce the feeling of hunger. However, it’s recommended that you don’t drink much water during the actual meals. It’s best to drink 15 minutes on either side to allow for better digestion and absorption of the food. 4) Stay away from the Buffet Table - as far as you possibly can! Okay, that might seem like a logical one, but I just wanted to remind you… It’s best to avoid the temptation as much as you can, instead of challenging your willpower. Get the healthy salads, fruits and snacks on that plate and get going as fast as you can… Try to find good lively company to engage in conversation with, so you don’t let your mind focus on all the temptations and sabotage all your weight loss efforts. 5) Don’t neglect exercise. The holiday season (or any other season) is not an excuse to let yourself go. You don’t have to do much at all, 15-2- minutes a day could be all you need, but… You simply have to keep your metabolic rate in high gear! “Interval training” might be ideal for this, because it’s short, effective and rarely boring.
